Thank you so much for this set! It will truly come in handy.

I have never requested a name, because I can find the (few!!) names that I "need" either here or elsewhere, but also, I can cut and paste the designs and make my own names. I have never seen (nor do I ever expect to see) my name digitized, but thanks to a member here, I can get every single letter I need in every style of stacked, embossed, twirled, swirled and spangled design; I simply have to wait for that member to request her long list of "requests", and do my cut and paste and I can make my name.

I feel that if a person makes money from doing embroidery, that person should be willing to pay for that design. I don't think my Uncle Arthur would like to have his name embroidered on EVERYthing he owns embroidered in twenty different styles of digitizing.

I respect that we can offer our opinions here, and hope that you all respect MY OPINION. I think the digitizers have the right to deny any and all requests. (I hope I didn't just knix my chances to get my monogram request :? )

That is a very valid opinion, MsPiggie, especially the part about...
"I feel that if a person makes money from doing embroidery, that person should be willing to pay for that design."

And what great initiative you have to cut and paste from the gazillion other designs!

I really don't use stacked names too much,,, but I wanted to send along a big thank you for this article.... for some reason Austraila has very wonderful , generous spirited people in abundance.... (we here in USA do as well),,, but just wanted to pass along that I've noticed it a lot all over the net and in many "handcrafting" sites.... this was a wonderful post... thanks for sending it.... bj

Quoted by Gail .....
If you make a request, please do not necessarily expect it to be filled, especially ones with very long lists of names. It is up to the digitiser as to whether they fill the request or not, and please do not be offended if the answer is a polite "no". Just because a request is filled for one person, does not mean all further requests are obligated to be filled.

Thank you Gail for posting this. I feel also this issue of name & name stacking requests have been abused.
How many relatives and friends does one know?

You said it perfectly and this message should be manditory prior to joining this forum.

All the digitizers are extreamly generous and their work should not be abused by any member.

When a member is looking for a particular design - they should search the forum FIRST prior to requesting. There are 1,000's of designs in this forum and all one need to do is look.

Well said Gail, and Thanks for posting this font for everyone :D

Deborah

Thank you very much Gail. Your post was VERY well put. I've often sat and shook my head at the extensive lists some have posted in request of this or that personalized name/design. It's very exciting to make something for a friend or family member because they are all so intrigued at what we can all make with these wonderful machines we all have. I know how much they all love those items and how big their smile gets to see that it has their name on it also. It's fun to do that for friends or family. I would HOPE anyone requesting an entire list of names is not doing so because they haven't taken the time to learn their own software and make these themselves if they are in business. Also, I would hope that if they are selling things someone has taken the time to make for them that they'd at least offer to pay something for creating them. I also very much hope that they are not taking the credit for creating those names they are putting on the items they are selling! That's just wrong in my mind for anyone in the business of selling things to not learn these things themselves IF that is happening.

I know I've requested once or twice something myself and only when I really, really loved the font or design being done. In seeing all those others asking for name after name I felt guilty even thinking of adding to the list of others already requested. I would love to have the name of everyone in my family but I couldn't ask anyone for that much unless I was offering to pay for them. Instead I only request my granddaughters name and as she gets older, I won't even ask for hers either because it's very dangerous to have a childs name on anything they carry or wear anyway. Sadly her name is so unusual that there's nothing anywhere with her name so until I have my own software I have no choice but to ask, or buy one. I ALWAYS when requesting let that person know that I am more than patient to wait and if they don't have time right then to please not put my request ahead of something else they are doing, or need to do. And if I'm lucky enough to have someone be so kind as to create a personalized design for me, I always make sure to thank them whether I'm getting it free, or even if I've had to pay for it because they didn't have to do it and I know they had to put something else aside while they took the time to do something special for me.

I am shocked to read that anyone who has gotten anything special they've requested of one of you that are SO generously offering to make didn't have the common decency/courtesy to send a thank you for that!!! The two seconds it takes to type "thank you" is nothing compared to the amount of time I know it takes to create a design. WOW! I cannot believe that. Maybe all of you that do these personal requests need to put a password/lock code into those zip files so those that request personalized things over and over and never say thank you will be forced to send a thank you in order to get that code to unlock that design.

Before I forget ~ Thank you very much Gail for this alphabet. Having this will be very easy for me and anyone else now to do these stacked names ourselves.

Thank you so much. I too, do not digitize. I have made reasonable requests a few times in the past but never long lists of names. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate the wonderful digitizers who have so freely shared their talent with me. I think this alphabet will help me as well as others to do our own names. Of course when it comes to embossed I don't think I have the capabilities but I could be wrong about that. Thank you so much for sharing this alphabet with us and for helping out our generous and I am sure often time overwhelmed digitizers. How thoughtful of you to do this!!!
