I was experimenting with the new version of Embird with the Trace Tool and created this little guy. He's for 4 x 4 and in .pes. He's untested and you can use him as you wish, just do not sell him. :)

Hi Cantoo, You've been "missing" for a while. Or, I've not been paying attention?
Nice to see you. :) And, thank you for sharing! :) justGail

Looks like you have well and truly mastered the new trace tool! He is great!

I have had a brief play with the trace tool myself. There is obviously quite a bit of tweaking involved in getting things perfect with it, but is there some trick to perfecting the outline? I have noticed if you choose a column outline, it generally puts the outline all in one piece, but if you choose a thin, single line outline it splits it into a million little pieces which are all over the place. Any hints or tips in this regard would be much appreciated!

Also, did you use the settings as suggested in the tuturial on the website for overlap etc. or is it just a matter of trial and error?

Thank you all. I do think he turned out pretty cute too.

ggdesignsembroidery (and anyone else who is interested) I have a few tricks I learned while doing him. I set the overlap to .3, that seemed to work nicely. I set the tolerance to 30 and simplicity to 10.

You really do still need to know how to create designs, but it can be a BIG help. I know I'll be using it a lot.

For the outline the best trick is the "tree" OR Arrange Outline Parts after doing the trace with outline. You select all of your parts, click on the Arrange Outline Parts button and it will sort out, add connecting stitches and create a backward path and then group them for you. You may end up with a few nodes that need to be moved closer (they will be highlighted), but it only takes a few seconds. Really slick. Try it with a simple shape and you'll see what a great tool it is.

Thanks heaps for the tips Cantoo - I will be sure to try them out when I get a spare moment to sit down and give it a go.
