I have made these for years, what I do is use the pork steak, sometimes 2 cans cream of mushroom soup, 1 can of bits and pieces mushrooms, 1 can of chicken broth. 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar,(makes tough cuts of meat tender) or some cooking sherry or leftover wine :)
I put that all into a crock pot. I add sometimes a vegetable cube, it gives a unique flavour, splash of soy, Salt and pepper.
Feel free to add any spices you may like, but I prefer it this way.

Then I sear in a hot pan the pork steaks, (sometimes they are really big so I cut them into decent pieces, I leave the bone in as that adds to the flavour... place into crock pot, set on high, let cook all day if you wish, or most of the evening, resume in the morning on high, when it starts to boil, turn to low and make some rice or potatoes, fresh buns, veggies... whatever, let cook until dinner time... (the bones will fall out of the meat, so fish them out if you wish)

I have done this in the oven for about 3 hours in a roasting pan, it is the most delicious and forgiving recipe I have ever made...
