Thank you, aussiecarolyn, for the very fast response.
The reference you gave doesn't help my problem, unfortunately. When I click on the download link for the file, instead of getting the download box about whether to view or save, I get the window with the gobbledygook. Seems as though somewhere in the system, something is deciding that i don't want to execute whatever code the download link points to, but to display it as text instead.
