COPYRIGHT ISSUES AND RULES

1) All designs posted here will be considered free for unrestricted stitching and selling or giving away items with the design on it unless otherwise stated here.

2) A suggestion is that you post the words "personal use only" if you only want the members to use it for personal items they make for themselves or gifts.

3) Please remember that unrestricted use does not allow you to sell the design itself (the stitching pattern posted here) or alter the design and then claim it as your own "new" design.

4)It is the policy of SewForum/AllBrands to NOT allow posts and links to digitizations of licensed cartoon characters including the Disney and Cartoon Network characters. When it comes to copyright infringements the problem occurs when the digitiization is shared (or in this case downloaded from this site) or sold for profit. When this occurs the link/design is deleted and a message left in the post that the link was deleted and the member(s) who posted are privately notified. I WOULD CAUTION ALL NEW EMBROIDERERS TO BECOME AWARE OF COPYRIGHT LAWS IN THE COUNTRY YOU RESIDE IN.

It is the policy of SewForum/AllBrands not to allow members to post design files they created from purchased pieces of fabrics.

It is the policy of SewForum/AllBrands not to allow members to post designs of School names, logos and teams.

It is the policy of SewForum/AllBrands not to allow members to post designs of Professional ball teams such as football and baseball.

5) IF YOU FEEL THERE IS A COPYRIGHT VIOLATION PLEASE CONTACT THE MODERATORS OR THE ADMINISTRATORS AND DO NOT POST TO THE BOARD. THIS NOT ONLY CAUSES EMBARRASSMENT TO THE POSTER, BUT ALSO CAUSES HEATED ARGUMENTS WHICH WE WILL NOT ALLOW ON SEWFORUM.

6) Some simple guidleines on the use of copyrighted designs:
-You can make anything for yourself. You can make a Mickey Mouse outline if you want. If you do this you cannot sell the design file or give it away. You can put the design on items for your personal use.

-Some digitizers will allow you to sell items with their design on it.

-You cannot make a design file of a licensed character, stitch it on something, and then sell it.

-You cannot take a design file, change it or combine it with another unless you created it in the first place and then give the new design file away or sell that newly created design file. The definitive term is DESIGN FILE.

-Ten of us could take the same font or clip art, add stitiches to it in our digitizing software, and the designs would be the same outline however the odds of even two of us using the exact same stitches would be slim to none. We would each own the file we created and we could . Keep it for our own use 2. Sell the design file to someone else or 3. Give it away for free on a forum such as this or to a friend. We could stitch the design on something for our personal use, we could sell the item we stitched the design on or we could give it away.

-When someone here requests a free design only people who own digitizing software should be responding. If someone does not own digitizing software they cannot create a new design file.

7. If we find a questionable design file posted it will be removed from the forum. The member will be notified however if the problem continues the posts will be deleted without notice.

8. For those who post designs your web store links may only be posted in the Merchant Mall section. If someone asks about your design please feel free to PM that member.

9. All designs posted must have a picture of the design posted.

10. Please do not advertise for testers on SewForum.

11. You are ALWAYS free to PM any members for private requests.

13. Please no team names, school names, business names, fonts that can be identified with a business or product or team.

14. Greek letters that represent a sorority or fraternity are not allowed under their copyright laws.

15. Anything related to a movie or play are also not allowed.
