I was thinking of doing a few dolls for charity.
And wanted to see If anyone else would like to do some heres the link to the charity site I found and where to send them.
http://ragdolls2love.org/index.html

they have a free download pattern for the doll.I'm going to send some to them and then donate some to our local police dept,They use them to give to children of house fires or accidents. You could also make one for the lil someone in your life.

I also made up a face design and heart design to use on the doll,And thought I would share that with you all too.

I'll post some pics when I get some done I'd love to see any dolls that others make too. Add them to this post if you like.
AbbysGrammy
UPDATE! Well I'm not to excited over the doll pattern (Kinda simple)and I'm going to try and make my own to use this face with.

Thank you very much for this great face. I've been making these dolls too and my hand embroidery stinks!! You're the tops! Let us know what new pattern you use.

Thanks for sharing this site and making the members of the forum aware of this program. What a cute doll face you have made too!

In our community the local Police Department and the Rape and Abusive Crisis Center accept donations of new and gently used stuffed animals for the children they encounter during a crisis. The police carry a few stuffed animals in their trunks to comfort the children.

How neat ! I'll not make any guarantee since my husband is sick but I'll make an effort anyway. This looks similar to the bed doll pattern that I did a long time ago. This is a great project. Thanks for giving us this information. I love it when we can do something for someone in need.

What a great idea. I know there are many children in those other countries that probably have lost everything and it's probably really hard for them. I just can't imagine living in some of those areas as an adult, much less an innocent child.

I was checking their website and the contact page and saw this in case you hadn't seen it yet. I'd hate to see you go through all that work and then the expense of shipping them all those dolls you make only to have them return them back to you, or anyone else that may do this as well using this adorable face you created.
Quote:
IMPORTANT: The dolls must have the face that is indicated on the pattern. These dolls have been designed to be ethnically sensitive to the cultures where they are being sent. The finished dolls is about 20" tall

I LOVE the face you have given us however and know that I will use that for others I make dolls for which aren't going to that charity. It's an adorable face. Thank you for that!

On the other hand, if anyone needs idea of places to send dolls here in the USA, I know battered women's shelters can use things like this all the time. Those poor women come from horrible situations and in many cases have to leave in the middle of the night or at the very second they can to get out safely with their children leaving everything they own behind including clothes and their poor children's toys.
