Hi, I am new to this site and would appreciate your help. I am also new to embroidering. I have a new Babylock Ellgante 2 sewing/embroidery machine, and I am trying to decide between the Palette 9 and Designers Gallery. Your comments would be appreciated.

Thank you.
Bobbie

What are your plans?

You do need some basic software to at least view your embroidery design files.

Digitizing? This can be simple (lite version) or a little more complicated.

Get comfortable with the EM before making such an expensive investment.

I am guessing that your local dealer does not use these products so you can not see a demo.

Check the bl site as some of the products have a trial that you can use to help you make your decision.

I don't know anything about Palette but have some of the Designer's Gallery programs, I've found them to be very user friendly.

I've got Studio Plus, great way to store and categorize designs (your collection will grow by leaps and bounds). ColorWorks came with it. I love Studio, it came with my Ellageo BLL so I've been organized from the start. I'd like to upgrade to the newest program, and will eventually.

I've got other Designer's Gallery programs, and they are user friendly, great programs but I prefer Embird, you can get the whole program and all it's plug-ins for about the cost of one Designer's Gallery program.

Do you want to edit? Create lettering? Thinking of digitizing?

Designer's Gallery and most other embroidery software have free trials, try them out and see what works for you. There are some free digitizing programs out there too.

This is just my opinion, I'm sure you'll you'll get others.

What Designer's Gallery program are you considering? That will help us give you the pros and cons.

If I buy Designers Gallery, I would buy Studio Plus, Size Works, Density Works, Hoop Works, Custom Works, and Monogram Works. Of course, there are other software packages that go with this. I would buy those later, but I would start off with the ones I just mentioned. Someone suggested that I buy Palette 9 because it has fill stiches, photo stiches, and some digitizing and also buy the Monogram Works from Designers Gallery. I already have Studio Plus that I inherited from my Mother. What do you think?

Thank you,
Bobbie

If you go to the baby lock website you can download an update for Studio Plus and this may save purchasing at least one new software program.

You might look into getting Designers Gallery EmbroideryWorks. You would get sizeworks, hoopworks, and densityworks in one program. I love all of my DG software. I find Palette not as user friendly as Masterworks but it's a good program.

I just went to an embroidery class in my sewing machine store and asked the instructor what software she would suggest and she said that her suggestion was Embroidery Works. It is user friendly and a great program.
