SewForum Rules

We ask that you respect our rules and our Moderators' decsions.
When in question a post will be deleted.
If you disagree please do so in private and feel free to contact CajunQuilter, Forum Administrator.

We post the rules of the Forum in each individual section. If you have questions please contact a Moderator or the Forum Administrator privately and we will be happy to assist.

Please do NOT Flame or Troll. Flaming is the act of directly insulting another member, flame-baiting is making a comment with the intention of getting a flame as a response, and trolling is the act of making posts with no purpose other than to annoy people.
We will remove any posts that we feel fit this category.
Remember this is a subjective call and we do the best we can to be fair.

We also request that you do not post problems you are having with another business. Please direct your issues to the business in question.

We ask that noone post any type of ads here looking for employment, requesting test stitchers, requesting group buys, and requesting to sell or purchase used items.
The ads for your business are allowed in the Merchant Mall area (please review the rules before posting).

As a member we ask that you agree not to post any abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-oriented or any other material that may violate any applicable laws.
These posts will be removed and doing so may lead to your membership being cancelled.
Internet provider addresses are recorded here and we reserve the right to report abusers of our rules to their respective internet providers.

As a member you agree that the Administrator and Moderators of this forum have the right to remove, edit, move or close any topic at any time should they see fit.

As a user you agree to any information you have entered above being stored in a database. While this information will not be disclosed to any third party without your consent the webmaster, administrator and moderators cannot be held responsible for any hacking attempt that may lead to the data being compromised.

Inappropriate Material: This includes, but isn't limited to, swearing or any pornographic images. We request that the Forum remain G-rated.
We will allow socially accepted terms to be posted here but will remove any terms that are not considered socially appropriate. T

Postings: a) Please don't post huge pictures. The reason being is that there could be some members with dial-up and the load time for the page would probably be slower than for members with broadband or DSL. Resizing programs are listed as sticky note at the top of the Show Off area of the Sewforum. Photo dimensions should be approx postcard viewing size and kept under 100kb where possible, and around 50kb even better. Large photos will be resized when noticed to save forum space, and will have notation resized added to original file name.

Test Stitchers: We request you do not advertise for any type of test stitcher or person to hire.

Private Messages: The contents of PMs are subject to the posting rules. A PM should normally remain private between recipient and sender. An exception is when a PM is misrepresented or breached by either party or breaks the posting rules, e.g. contains illegal, inappropriate, or malicious abuse. In which case the recipient should, in the first instance, send the PM to a moderator or admin for action to be taken.

Licensed Cartoon Character Rules: It is the policy of AllBrands not to allow links to or downloads of characters that resemble any U.S. cartoon characters. Copyright infringements have to do with gaining a profit from using others’ designs without permission and sharing or selling of a digitization that you did for yourself. When discovered the links will be removed and the poster PMd. I caution all new embroiderers to check with the company before using any company's logo, character, etc to see if it is allowed.

Copyright Violations: IF YOU FEEL THERE IS A COPYRIGHT VIOLATION PLEASE CONTACT THE MODERATORS OR THE ADMINISTRATORS AND DO NOT POST TO THE BOARD. THIS NOT ONLY CAUSES EMBARRASSMENT TO THE POSTER, BUT ALSO CAUSES HEATED ARGUMENTS WHICH WE WILL NOT ALLOW ON SEWFORUM. Postings containing pictures of copyrighted figures are allowed. Digitizing of known copyrighted figures are not allowed.

Due to the controversy surrounding licensed character links it is AllBrands’ and SewForum's rule not to allow links to any designs of Disney, Raggedy Ann, Harry Potter or any other designs that may represent licensed characters. We will no longer debate the copyright issue. It is our rule. We are not lawyers here but we are allowed to have rules.

Information from a Disney representative of the legal department state: Disney allows Brother to sell their designs however the designs can only be used for personal use. The use of their designs for resale by themselves or on items for sale is strictly forbidden. Disney is aware of links that have been posted on our site to sites that sell designs not made by Brother. The representative said that the European and Russian sites that sell them are not legal and the Disney representatives in those areas are pursuing investigation of the sites. I specifically asked about using the Mickey Mouse outline, especially as a font. She says that this outline of the mouse ears and head belongs to Disney and is not an outline that anyone can take and digitize and use. She is aware of U.S. sites posted at times on this Forum that sell the designs. She says Disney will be pursuing this matter further. Any use of this font posted on this Forum will be deleted. So will links to this font. Also links to the Russian sites, etc will be deleted. Links to other websites and Forums that sanction the use of these illegal designs will be deleted. Thank you all in advance for your cooperation. Cajun

Coloring Books have an Intended Use Copyright. Meaning you can color them and that is all. Therefore changing the format is a copyright violation.
